Dhyan is a Landscape Designer, Horticulturist, Ecologist and Sustainability Educator with over 20 years experience in the horticulture, agriculture, farm forestry and landscaping sectors.
She has a strong background in amenity, conservation and production horticulture having worked in botanic gardens, retail and wholesale plant nurseries and design and installation of rural and residential gardens.
Dhyan specialises in Water Smart Gardening and biodiversity conservation work delivered via community workshops, educational videos, print and electronic media all with a strong focus on fostering behavioural change for improved resource conservation.
She has worked as an industry strategist and technical specialist as Trees on Farms Advisory Officer with Department of Primary Industries, Member of the National Farm Forestry Roundtable, Project Manager of the NSW Farm Forestry Strategy and Extension Specialist with the NSW Private Native Forestry Landholder Awareness Raising Program.
Dhyan is an advocate of the importance of community education and rural extension in promoting a healthy ecology. She has developed, monitored and evaluated rural landholder extension programs as well as designed and delivered professional development training courses for rural extension professionals. She regularly works with Schools and Early Education Providers to meet their Sustainability Education needs.
Dhyan has a particular interest in the use of heavy horses for ecological restoration in forest, woodland and riverine habitat
